* Forbes Top Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on overall quality of practice and an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative data received in nominations from over 11,000 professionals in the financial services industry, including banks, brokerages, custodians, insurance companies, clearing houses and registered investment advisers. Criteria includes client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; as well as assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Advisors must have a minimum of seven years of experience to be considered. Gratus Capital, LLC is not affiliated with Forbes or Shook Research, LLC.

** Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends,  assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying  client objectives and lack  of audited data. Neither Forbes or SHOOK receive a fee in exchange for rankings. Gratus Capital, LLC is not affiliated with Forbes or Shook Research, LLC.

*** Firms reported assets under management, discretionary and nondiscretionary, in line with SEC Form ADV Part I, Item 5F (2) (a), (b) and (c). All information is current as of June 30, 2021. Figures only include investment assets actually managed, not any life insurance policies, and only assets on which the firm is collecting advisory fees. A professional is defined here as a person with a professional designation, such as a CPA or CFP, who is qualified to provide comprehensive financial planning services. **** Net Promoter Score (NPS) is calculated by subtracting the percentage of customers who answer the NPS question with a 6 or lower (known as ‘detractors’) from the percentage of customers who answer with a 9 or 10 (known as ‘promoters’). Promoters (score of 9 and 10) represent a company’s most enthusiastic and loyal customers: these people are likely to act as brand ambassadors, enhance a brand’s reputation, and increase referral flows, helping fuel the company’s growth. Detractors (score of 0 to 6, included) are unlikely to recommend a company or product to others, probably won’t stick around or repeat purchases, and—worse—could actively discourage potential customers away from a business. Passives (score of 7 or 8) are not actively recommending a brand, but are also unlikely to damage it with negative word of mouth. Although they are not included in the NPS calculation, passives are very close to being promoters (particularly when they give a score of 8), so it always makes strategic sense to spend time investigating what to do to win them over.
